Do not ignore this instinct. It’s perfectly natural to want to have a lot of water after any nursing session no matter how short. The same is true for women who aren’t going to nurse. Giving birth takes a lot of fluid from the body. All women who are leaving child bed should have as much fluid as they want on hand to help them get rid of excess blood and other unwanted tissues.
Let Others Help
Letting others help is a great option. Your own mom probably wants to be with you as soon as she can after you’ve brought her new grandchild in the world. Let her do things for you. She can rock a fussy baby on her knee while you take a much needed bath. Friends can help watch the baby while you make a fast dinner. Your spouse can also provide you with easy help. Let that person do the cleaning while you rest up for childbearing. Consider a cleaning service to help with the first few months of caring for your newborn. The small fee can allow you to spend more time bonding and less time worrying about minor messes.
Take Care of Your Own Health
Your own health also needs a lot of care. If you’ve had stitches, they need to be examined by a professional in order to determine when they can be removed. You need to eat right. Make sure you’re getting enough healthy calories. Now is now the time to think about immediate weight loss. It’s the time to let your body breathe and regain health. Take naps when you can. Look for food high in nutrients. Whole grains and fresh fruit are a good choice. Easy to transport options like homemade soups are portable and can be made in large quantities. Allow at least two months for a full physical recovery from bearing a child.
Trust Your Instincts
